The whole north east quadrant of the Rudhee Valley is part of a dormant volcano. One of the experiments of the Society is to see if a series of diversion ditches will minimize lava damage when the volcano next becomes active. One such ditch is largely complete now.

Here, Michael climbs out of the ditch after inspecting it and calculating potential lava flow volumes.

We hope the volcano will remain dormant, but the native tribe says they believe it will awaken again within the next 5 or so years if action is not taken.
